Borisov, a city located in Belarus, has a fascinating history. According to the Laurentian Codex, Borisov was founded by Polotsk prince Boris Vseslavovich in 1102, and it has since undergone destruction and reconstruction. By the end of the thirteenth century, Borisov had become a part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and in 1569 it was absorbed into the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Later, in 1793, it became a part of the Russian Empire after the Second Partition of Poland.

Borisov has played a significant role in history, including being the site of a significant military battle during Napoleon's invasion in 1812. Today, visitors to Borisov can witness a reenactment of this event during town festivals. A museum in the city houses a cannon from the Napoleonic era as a testament to the city's historical significance.

Despite its tumultuous past, Borisov has risen from the ashes of World War II to become an important city in Belarus. The city was occupied by Nazi Germany from 1941 to 1944, resulting in the destruction of much of the city and the establishment of six death camps around it, where over 33,000 people lost their lives. However, since 1948, Borisov has been the headquarters of the seventh Tank Army, which has evolved into the North Western Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Belarus.
